Overview
Embark on an extraordinary journey beyond the gilded pagodas of Bagan into the misty, emerald-clad peaks of the Chin Hills. This 7-day "Tribes and Villages of the Chin Hills" expedition is not just a trekking tour; it is a profound immersion into one of Southeast Asia’s most enigmatic and preserved cultural landscapes. Located in Western Myanmar, the Chin State remains a frontier of discovery, home to the legendary "tattooed-face" women, whose intricate facial patterns tell ancient stories of identity and beauty.
Our adventure begins in the plains of Bagan before ascending into the rugged terrain of the Magwe Region and Chin State. Over seven days, you will traverse high ridges, deep river valleys, and pristine forests. You will walk through remote settlements like Maw Chaung, Khoke, and Sai Nan, where life moves to the rhythmic beating of traditional drums and the cycles of nature. This trek is designed for those who seek authenticity—sleeping in village houses, sharing meals with local families, and witnessing traditions that have remained unchanged for centuries.
From the challenging elevations of the mountain passes to the misty pine forests of Kanpetlet, every step offers a new perspective on the resilience and hospitality of the Chin people. This is an invitation to step off the grid and into a world of raw beauty and deep human connection.
