Overview
Welcome to Putao, the northernmost town of Myanmar, nestled in the shadows of the mighty Himalayas. This 5-day Putao Valley and Shangaung Tour is designed for those who seek to escape the modern world and immerse themselves in a landscape of snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear rivers, and vibrant ethnic cultures.
Putao is a hidden gem in Kachin State, accessible only by air for most of the year. This region remains one of the most biodiverse and untouched areas in Southeast Asia. Your journey begins in the valley itself, surrounded by the subtropical rainforests that characterize the Himalayan foothills. Throughout this expedition, you will traverse the famous Shangaung Pass, visit ancient spiritual sites like the Kaungmulon Pagoda, and walk across the iconic suspension bridges of Mulashidi.
Unlike the dry plains of Bagan or the bustling streets of Yangon, Putao offers a cool, crisp alpine climate. You will encounter the hospitable Rawang and Lisu ethnic groups, whose traditions and way of life have remained unchanged for centuries. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a professional photographer, or a cultural explorer, the Putao Valley provides an atmospheric backdrop of mist-covered mountains and emerald-green valleys that will leave an everlasting impression on your soul.
