Overview

A Grand Expedition from the Sacred Temples to the Tropical Coast

For travelers seeking a profound, highly active, and diverse exploration of Cambodia, the 8-Day Discover Trekking Tour from the Angkor Complex to Sihanoukville represents the ultimate adventure. Most tourists witness Cambodia’s famous wonders from the confines of air-conditioned tour buses or motorized tuk-tuks. This high-energy, low-impact itinerary is designed specifically for those who want to earn their experiences on foot. Over eight action-packed days, you will trek across Cambodia’s most iconic landscapes. Your journey begins in the ancient stone heart of the Khmer Empire, traverses sacred mountain plateaus and high-altitude pine forests, dives into the rich historical tapestry of Phnom Penh, and culminates in the lush coastal wilderness and sandy beaches of the southern coast.

Your expedition begins with an epic 25-kilometer trek through the Angkor Archaeological Park. Avoiding the crowded main tour roads, you will navigate hidden dirt tracks, ancient earthen city ramparts, and shaded forest pathways. Walking from temple to temple allows you to absorb the majestic scale of Angkor Wat, the mysterious stone faces of Bayon, and the root-choked corridors of Ta Prohm at a peaceful, immersive pace. From the Angkor plains, you will head to Phnom Kulen, the sacred birthplace of the Khmer Empire. Here, you will trek 15 kilometers along rugged jungle trails, discover riverbed stone carvings, and walk through the ancient, overgrown ruins of Beng Mealea temple.

Transitioning from the north to the south, you will travel overland to the capital city of Phnom Penh for a day of historical reflection and cultural sightseeing. Your journey then climbs into the refreshing, high-altitude landscapes of Kirirom National Park. Famous for its unique elevated pine forests, clear lakes, and plunging waterfalls, Kirirom offers a crisp, cool environment for a rewarding 15-kilometer trek along scenic ridges. From the mountains, the trail leads down to the Gulf of Thailand. You will explore Sihanoukville and the pristine coastal ecosystems of Ream National Park, trekking through mangrove forests and along rugged coastlines. Combining world-class historical sites, wild national parks, and a relaxing beach finale, this comprehensive trekking tour shows you the absolute best of Cambodia's cultural and natural heritage.
