Overview
The Ultimate 15-Day Cambodian Expedition from Ancient Temples to Untamed Jungles and Tropical Coasts
For the modern adventurer who demands a profound, physically active, and culturally immersive exploration, the 15-Day Cambodia Best Trekking Tour with Mekong River represents the definitive journey through the Kingdom of Wonder. Most travelers experience Cambodia through brief glimpses from tour buses, catching only the highlights of Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh. This high-energy, sustainable eco-expedition is designed for those who want to feel the earth beneath their boots, earning every panoramic view, ancient temple discovery, and local cultural interaction on foot. Over fifteen action-packed days, you will hike through ancient kingdoms, follow the life-giving currents of the mighty Mekong River, traverse remote tribal highlands, and trek through lush, coastal national parks before relaxing on white-sand tropical beaches.
Your epic adventure begins in Siem Reap, the ancient heart of the Khmer Empire. Instead of the crowded main roads, you will navigate forested single-track paths, ancient earthen city walls, and hidden jungle trails to explore the iconic stone temples of the Angkor Archaeological Park. From the plains of Angkor, you will ascend the sacred slopes of Phnom Kulen, the birth mountain of the empire, where you will trek past riverbed stone carvings, ancient caves, and plunging waterfalls.
Transitioning from history to wild nature, the expedition heads east to follow the Mekong River. In the charming riverside towns of Kratie and Stung Treng, you will trek along peaceful riverine islands, walk through traditional agricultural hamlets, and board wooden longtail boats to observe the rare and endangered freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins swimming in deep-water pools. This river journey provides a beautiful transition before you climb into the rugged, volcanic red-clay highlands of Rattanakiri Province. Centered around the town of Banlung, this region is a haven for trekkers. You will embark on challenging multi-kilometer treks deep into the territories of the Kroeung and Tapoun indigenous hill tribes. Walking through primary monsoon rainforests, you will witness their ancestral animist lifestyles, sacred cemetery totems, and traditional stilt-house architecture.
Returning toward the south, your journey stops at the historical Mekong town of Kampong Cham and the bustling capital city of Phnom Penh, where walking tours will reveal Cambodia's rich colonial heritage, majestic royal landmarks, and poignant modern history. From the capital, the trail climbs into the refreshing, high-altitude landscapes of Kirirom National Park. Famous for its unique elevated pine forests, clear lakes, and deep ravines, Kirirom offers a crisp, cool environment for a rewarding mountain trek. Descending from the highlands, the route reaches the Gulf of Thailand, where you will trek through the lush coastal rainforests and mangrove estuaries of Ream National Park. Your unforgettable expedition culminates with a completely free day to unwind on the pristine beaches of Sihanoukville before returning to Phnom Penh. Combining archaeological masterpieces, remote ethnic cultures, rare wildlife, and spectacular coastal nature, this is Cambodia's most comprehensive active outdoor tour.

Tour Plan
Meet at the hotel to brief on the tour. Then transfer to the South Gate of Angkor Thom and start walking on the Great Wall of Angkor Thom city, the main capital of the King Jayavarman VII. The wall is about 5 square km, surrounded the capital of the former Angkor with 2 million habitants during the 12 century. Visit the four faces Bayon temple and walk through the terrace of Elephant, terrace of Leper King toward the jungle temple of Ta Phrom embraced by giant trees and creepers. Ta Phrom was featured in the movie starred by Angelina Jollie. After lunch, visit the magnificent 12th century Angkor Wat. It is visually, architecturally and artistically breathtaking. Suryavarman II constructed Angkor Wat in the form of massive 'temple mountain' dedicated to the Hindu god, Vishnu.
