Overview
Escape the modern world and step into the emerald heart of Northern Laos with our 3-Day Luang Namtha Forest Tribe Trekking Tour. This isn't just a hike; it's a profound journey into the Nam Ha National Protected Area (NPA), a UNESCO-recognized site of biological and cultural importance. Over three days, you will traverse diverse landscapes ranging from dense primary rainforests to towering bamboo groves and vibrant rice paddies.
This expedition is specifically designed for travelers seeking an authentic connection with the land and its people. You will be guided by local experts who possess an ancestral knowledge of the forest, teaching you how to identify medicinal plants, forage for traditional ingredients, and navigate the rugged terrain.
Beyond the physical challenge, this tour offers a rare window into the lives of the Lanten and Khmu ethnic groups. By staying in local villages, you contribute directly to the community-based tourism initiatives that help preserve these unique cultures. Experience the warmth of Lao hospitality as you share meals cooked over open fires and sleep under the stars in traditional wooden stilt houses.

Tour Plan
You will start your tour from your hotel with a half an hour transfer from town to the village, where you will meet our village guide who will accompany us on the tour. We start from there with a gradual hike along the valley, where local people established their rice fields and farms. This is a great opportunity to learn about how they plant the rice and other crops in the area. Then we hike steeply up to the top of a mountain where you can see beautiful views of the rice fields and villages. Next, we walk along the ridge-line of the mountain to the village of the Lantan tribe, the tribe that derived from the south of China (Yunan region) a few hundred years ago. We will spend the night with a local family. The guide and the host family will cook traditional Lanten food dinner.
